Italy 2023

In July, Jessie and I visited Rome, Florence, and Milan. We had a great time, visited lots of places, and ate tons of delicious food.

We did a 6 AM bike tour in Rome at the suggestion of Allie and Max. Totally worth it!

The Capitoline Museums are a worthy visit with an incredible collection of art and sculptures from antiquity.

Another view of the sunrise over the Roman forum on our bike tour.

We toured the Vatican; it was probably my most memorable experience in Rome.

We took a food tour in Rome, and had this delicious Roman food called Supplì. It's basically fried risotto and cheese, super delicous.

Jessie in her happy place, enjoying a porchetta sandwich.

There are fountains with delicious clean water all over Rome. We needed it, especially since it was 100 degrees on some days!

We took a train to Florence. Pictured here is a melancholy Jessie after having her phone pickpocketed on the subway.

The streets of Florence often have names reflecting their past. Picture here is Jessie on via delle belle donne (street of beautiful women): it seems to reflect the present according to this picture!

We visited Tuscany and several vineyards in the Chianti Classico region

Pictured here is us at a winery of a man named Maurizio. He said this area was "his office".

In Florence we ate breakfast on Ponte Vecchio every day. Italian breakfast consists of a cappuccino and a croissant. A little small for my American palate!

This is a Suzuki Jimny, which I was very excited about. Jessie was unimpressed.

Us at dinner getting a Florentine steak. Probably the biggest and most delicious steak I've ever gotten.

Jessie helpfully pointing out the location of our Airbnb on a map of Florence.

Going to the Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset was great. I fully recommend this, especially with a bottle of wine!

We managed to get business class tickets on the flight over, which was totally worth it.
